Grand Opening: 2 Oct 2015
Received keys from HDB, went for defect check and surprisingly, little to none. Don't know if it's cuz our expectations were damn low...
Finalising with Contractor E: 12 Oct 2015
Confirmed quote with contractor and went ahead to sign papers!
Measuring: 17 Oct 2015
Contractor E came to measure the house and electrician was detailing where to run the... duh.. electricity.. It was strenuous trying to plan the route of the power supply, especially considering that i had to hack walls where sockets are/were... pfft..
Oh and checked reno permit for hacking walls, approved on 16 Oct!
Cement Screed: 19 Oct 2015
Sibei fast, submit appeal today and my officer gave me the screeder's contact number to arrange liao. power max, i love you HDB. On the other hand screeder's charge for excess screed left my heart breaking...
False alarm: 21 Oct 2015
Contractor's boss gave her a scare by saying reno permit still pending from HDB, cannot proceed to hack walls on 22nd Oct, but she already arranged the workers and all. So i sent her the printscreen of the HDB page, obviously it was approved liao!! TMD.. gave both of us a scare, and later updated to still proceed... $#%#^$^@
Day 1: 22 Oct 2015
开工大吉!! Hack ah!! So airy now~~ albeit still small but MUCH better~~
Day 3: 24 Oct 2015
Went to select tiles for the mbr's feature wall and house entrance~~ In the mean time, electrician is running the lines now~~
Bathroom wall:
House entrance:
Day 5: 26 Oct 2015
Start of cement screed! checked the wires to make sure all in place before laying the screed. The screeder guy was explaining to me the whole process~ sounds promising.
Day 6: 27 Oct 2015
Contractor there to monitor the process, weeeee!
Day 9: 30th Oct 2015
Floor all dried up and pretty~~~
Day 10: 31 Oct 2015
Met up with contractor E to finalize on the laminates and paint color. Realization dawns when my dream apron front sink from Ikea is not going to be in stock in time, as a result, going to buy a normal under/over mount sink that will incur more costs for the following: sink itself/extra countertop space ie more kompacplus to buy/extra concrete support. On top of that, storage will be reduced due to extra concrete support required below the ink... tmd...
Day 11: 1st Nov 2015
Went out for a splurge @ Hoe Kee:
Blanco Metro 9 in alumetallic sink:
Blanco Mida in white mixer
*edit: I took a picture of it! Pretty no?
Rinnai RB-2Gi with inner burner flame tech and elegant knobs... Yeah it's the description from the site k? Not i anyhow say one...
Day 13: 3rd Nov 2015
Patching up the hacked cement walls and doing kitchen kerbs. AND...
*Drum roll*
Tiling for the front entrance! HAHAHA so excited! Can't wait to see it tomorrow!
Day 14: 4th Nov 2015
Many things happening today
Plumbing, Citygas installation, bedroom doors measurement, aircon trunking installation, mbr toilet feature wall tiling, Hoe Kee loots delivery... phew..
Uncle tiler was doing up the kitchen kerb diligently, he's also the one who did up my entrance peranakan tiles and mbr toilet feature wall tiles~ good job!
Quite bright during the day hor?
Hoe Kee loots arrived~
Aircon man very zai and no nonsense man, come in and start talking to contractor E about where to lay the trunking and then proceeded to start work all by himself.
My pride and joy tiles~~
Only flaw? HDB's wall is segek one... tmd.. Almost S shape liao can?? Trying to do the wave or what sia?
Another pride and joy and so super glad to have chosen these tiles... it's tmd gorgeous!! I love it! Real life looks awesome trust me~ :D
Day 15: 5th Nov 2015
Went over again in the evening to show babe what's been up since he wasn't around yesterday. Sink is up! Taken with flash so pardon the gross quality
Many many cement dots on the sink leh... contractor E says will clean up after eveything is done
Citygas and gas heater's up!
Day 17: 7th Nov 2015
Wall paint's up! Not all is perfect though. For one, the painter forgot to paint the service yard... snooze...
They did not paint the bottom part of the wall, thinking that i have skirting. But nah ah~ I told my contractor that i don't have skirting~ she claims that she told them that too la..
I wanted to retain the cooper pipe look which was also conveyed to contractor E so imagine the horror when i saw this white ugly pipe! Anyways, she said she will get them to rectify~
Day 18: 8th Nov 2015
Window grills to be installed today~
Day 19: 9th Nov 2015
Happy Deepavali!! But no holidays for me since i had to work, and plenty of boo boos found today. Not the happiest day today.
Check out my ridonculous door frames... ALL FOUR OF THEM!! I only wanted the mbr door frame to be blue hor, suddenly the whole look is like.. just horror.. i can't even.. Then the mbr toilet door frame? How come got white and blue one?? Trying to be funny right??
And that's not even the worse. This tops the cake really. Leaking window frame. From the mounted points where the window grills are installed. Honestly I don't even know if the grills are supposed to be mounted on the frame itself or the wall instead. Anyways, the first discovery was in the mbr, then whilst i was making myself feel miserable and walking around the house, i discovered other rooms also had signs of leakage. URGH. Contractor E will come down tomorrow to inspect... Ask me don't panic first... like how not too huh?
Day 20: 10th Nov 2015
Contractor E went to inspect, claims that the leakage is a result of HDB contractor not sealing up the window frame outdoors properly, resulting in the accumulation of water in the frame. HDB was supposed to fill the inside of the frame with some cement like material so that water will not accumulate but obviously was not done so, or so was claimed. Anyways, she will get the window person to fix up everything for me. I was starting to kick up a fuss but she assured me. Hmph.
On the bright side, vinyl flooring to be done up. The vinyl people say even if there's some water, they can still lay the flooring wor. Don't know how awesome is that or them smoking me. We will see~
